The A-frame antenna of the vLoc3 series is used to detect ground faults on pipes and cables. In the case of pipes, the defects consist of coating defects. In the case of cables, faults are usually caused by insulation damage where the metallic sheath (or inner conductor) comes into contact with the earth. It is intended for use with vLoc3 Series receivers and requires a troubleshooting signal applied to the faulty conductor by a compatible Vivax-Metrotech transmitter with troubleshooting mode.
