Winches are used for lifting operations in the field. They are mounted on one of the legs or on the frame of a tripod. The following factors play a role in the selection of the winch to be used:
- Type of tripod.
- Frequency of use.
- Desired pulling capacity.
- Type of work.
- Desired lifting speed and
- working depth.
In the program there is both a light (capacity 5 kN (art.-no. 02.02.06) and a heavy (20 kN, art.-no. 02.02.05) hand winch. The light hand winch is mounted on the light tripod with a simple attachment. The heavy hand winch is mounted with a double attachment on the frame of the heavy tripod. In order to be able to quickly lower the object (e.g. the mud bucket) attached to the cable of the winch, the winch for heavy work is equipped with a free fall device. This means that the cable drum can run unhindered when lowering the mud box (the hand brake provides control). The light hand winch is operated by one person. The heavy winch is operated by one or two persons. In case of two-person operation, a crank is mounted on the drum axle on both sides of the winch. In case of very heavy lifting, a deceleration device is used on the heavy hand winch (however, in this case the operation is performed by one person). There are different plastic and steel cables for fastening to the hand winches.
